Here’s a brief list of the health, fitness and bodybuilding books that I recommend. I read a ton and own many more than are included on this list but these are my favorites and the ones I feel will be most helpful for people. This list is in no particular order.
#1- Convict Conditioning.- I absolutely love this book and have been using it for years. It’s probably the coolest fitness book I own. It’s an awesome book on calisthenics which will help you get strong as hell without every touching a weight. Just a really fun book to read and use.
# 2- Complete Calisthenics– Another awesome book on calisthenics and probably the most detailed and thorough one out there in the category.
# 3- Becoming A Supple Leopard– A great book for those looking to improve and maintain their range of motion. Great guide for learning proper technique on the main exercises to minimize your chances of injury. Trust me when I tell you that the price tag is worth it for this book.
# 4- Delavier’s Strengh Training Anatomy– Frederic Delavier has some great books and this is one of them. If you are a bodybuilding geek, you will enjoy this book as it explains which muscles are used for each exercise.
# 5- Jailhouse Strong– Another book similar to the convict conditioning idea. Written by powerlifter Josh Bryant, this book will tell you how to build a great physique no matter what type of environment you’re in.
# 6- Bigger Leaner Stronger– Written by Mike Matthews, this is a phenomenal book for guys looking to add muscle. From diet to workout routines, this book has everything in it you could need.
# 7- Delavier’s Core Training Anatomy– Also by Frederic Delavier, this is the ultimate guide to everything abs.
# 8- Education Of A Bodybuilder– Written by Arnold Schwarzenegger, this is part autobiography and part how-to for bodybuilders. One of the first bodybuilding books I can remember reading. If you like Arnold, you will love this book.
# 9- 150 Healthiest Foods On Earth– Great guide for anyone looking to improve their health and learn about the healthiest foods on earth. I love this book and refer to it often.
# 10- Thinner Leaner Stronger– Bigger Leaner Stronger for women and also written by Mike Matthews. Great guide for females looking to get into bodybuilding and weight training.
# 11- Strength Rules– A great book on how to get strong with calisthenics.
# 12- The New Encyclopedia Of Modern Bodybuilding- Also written by Arnold Schwarzenegger, this book is known as the bible of bodybuilding and is a must have for any bodybuilding enthusiast.
# 13- You Are Your Own Gym– Written by navy seal, this book will tell you how to get an awesome workout in whether you are in a hotel room or in the middle of the forest. Really cool book.
# 14- Convict Conditioning Two– The sequel to the first one. This book touches on how to build the rest of your body with calisthenics that the first book did not.
#15- 4 Hour Body– Written by Tim Ferris, this is a really interesting book on a variety of things related to health and fitness. If you’re a Ferris fan, this is a must have.
#16- Living Low Carb– If you are interested in a low carbohydrate diet, this is a great resource and one of my favorites in the category.
# 17- The Cholesterol Myth– If you have had issues with high cholesterol and have had your doctor freak you out about it, I suggest you read this book. It really breaks down a lot of the science and refutes some mainstream beliefs about cholesterol.
18- Delavier’s Anatomy For Bigger Stronger Arms– Another Delavier classic. If you are looking to build big arms, buy this book.
