I didn’t plan on making whey protein the topic of the week for the blog, but it’s certainly worked out that way as this is the second post this week on whey protein.
Are you really complaining though? Can you ever really get enough whey protein?
I certainly can’t, although I know that few others on this earth share my obsession with it.
In fact, I think it’s a tragedy that there are so few quality whey protein powders out there!
As I dreamily look up to the stars, I think about having my own line of whey protein, then I snap back to reality and continue typing.
Sorry about that.
I know that you guys are probably sick of me talking about Legion whey, so I’m happy to say that this is a review of a whey protein powder from a completely different company.
Teras Whey (teraswhey) protein powder has become my old reliable when it comes to whey protein.
My local grocery store sells it and I buy it here and there when I run out of my usual protein powder.
I don’t buy it too often anymore, but it comes in handy in a pinch and is a brand worth discussing.
In this teras whey protein powder review, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about it to help you decide on whether it’s worth trying.
About teraswhey protein powder
Before I go on, the correct name of the company is teraswhey however, I had to write it a bit differently in the title so Google would gently grab you by the hand and lead you to this stunning review.
Teraswhey is a protein powder company in Wisconsin. They source their whey from small family farms and artisan cheese makers around the state.
They seem to be a small homegrown company based upon their website and the fact that I don’t see their protein powder for sale in too many places.
They don’t have much information in their “about us” section though so I can’t be certain on their size.
Teraswhey protein powder is:
- Grass-fed
- Organic
- Non-Gmo
- Low in carbohydrates
- Low in sugar
- Fair trade certified (chocolate)
- Produced in small batches
- rBGH and rBST free (growth hormones)
- Processed at low temperatures (non-denatured)
Certainly, a lot of positives for a protein powder that I buy at my local grocery store.
Taste
Both the Bourbon vanilla and dark chocolate taste pretty good.
It doesn’t taste as good as a product like Legion whey, but I think that the flavor is solid.
It’s not going to knock you out of your shoes, but it’s not going to make you throw up either.
Both flavors are smooth and tolerable. The best word that I can use to describe the flavor is basic.
There are no extra frills with this company.
I don’t think that they are out there to change the whey protein world.
My guess is that teraswhey just wants to produce a high-quality whey protein at an affordable price, which is what they’ve done.
If you are looking for fancy flavors, this isn’t going to be your company.
If you are fine with good old chocolate and vanilla protein (or plain), this is a good option for you.
Consistency
This protein actually mixes up better than some other “gourmet” protein powders I’ve had.
There might be a few clumps here and there, but overall it mixes up well.
Give it a few hard shakes or use a blender and it will come out smooth.
I don’t have any complaints about the consistency of teraswhey.
Nutrition and ingredients
Here’s the main nutrition facts for the dark chocolate flavor:
Calories- 110
Total fat- 2 g
Sodium- 45 mg
Total carbohydrate- 5 g
Sugar- 2 g
Protein- 20 g
*Just a note that the nutrition for the Bourbon vanilla flavor varies slightly in a few categories, but it’s largely the same nutrition and ingredient wise.
Ingredients: Dairy whey protein concentrate, organic coca (processed with alkali), organic stevia leaf extract, sunflower lecithin.
Simple ingredients.
Nothing artificial and no preservatives.
Just the way I like my whey protein.
Price
This is actually one of the big reasons that I buy this protein powder.
It’s cheap!
I usually pay around $19.00 for the 12-ounce size in the store. There are 12 servings per 12-ounce container so that’s just over $1.50 per serving.
Anytime I can get protein for $2.00 or less a serving I consider that a win.
The premade protein shakes in the store will usually run you as high as $4.00.
Based upon the high-quality of this protein, I think it’s priced more than fair.
Why I like it
I call this protein my old reliable because I know that it will be there when I need it.
The quality of the protein sold in most local grocery store is horrendous.
It’s usually filled with preservatives and artificial ingredients.
In the rare chance that it’s not, it’s almost never grass-fed.
When I forget to order protein and need some in a pinch, this is always my go to choice.
I don’t have to go to a supplement store or Whole Foods to get it and it has everything that I want in a protein powder.
Sure, it’s not the brand-new corvette of grass-fed protein, but it’s definitely the Buick Century.
It’s reliable and will never let you down.
For someone who doesn’t care about fancy flavors and is just concerned about finding a high-quality whey protein powder, this is perfect.
This is honestly on of my favorite whey protein powders.
Another day, another whey
Teraswhey is a great choice if you are looking for a basic high-quality grass-fed whey protein powder.
I usually buy it a few times a year, just because Legion whey protein powder is my go to choice at this point in time.
I always have a can of teraswhey in my cupboard though, because I know that I will forget to place an order with Legion before I run out.
There are also some days when I just want plain chocolate or vanilla protein for old times’ sake.
It reminds me of the early protein powders where the flavor did not take nearly as much precedence as it does now.
This might not be the top protein in the category, but it’s a solid choice and one that gets the Supplement Reviews Lab stamp of approval.
Stay pumped,
Dan
P.S. Have you ever tried teraswhey protein powder? I’d love to hear your thoughts and results with it. I’d also love to hear any questions or comments you have below!
Personally, I don’t have any problems with the taste of certain protein mixes. I only have trouble with clove and the taste of that. Good thing is that these protein mixes usually contain the most common flavors, so it is usually not a big deal for most people.
I use different proteins, and I have not really tried this one up to this day. I can see that you are quite satisfied with it and there is no real reason not to believe you.
I will subscribe for your future posts.
Thank you Strahinja! I think you will enjoy it if you try it out. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your comment!

Hi Lori,
Some people might not think about it, but at the end of the day protein is a food which is why it can be certified organic! I definitely enjoy the taste of teras. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment and thanks for stopping by!
An excellent product review…you make me want to forget about my brand and go search for Teraswhey!

Your dreamy review has made me crave whey. Thank you for allowing Google to gently guide me here. Actually, my body can’t handle liquid lactose. However, my sons’ can. They love their protein. Especially the oldest. He’s into all the latest health products. I shall pass this article on to him because I’m sure he’ll love it!
I’m glad you liked it Cathy!! I hope they enjoy it if they decide to give it a try. Definitely worth the money in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by and sharing the post with your sons!
Hi, Dan,
I have really enjoyed reading your review about this Teraswhey protein, as there are literally very few honest reviews out there about sports nutrition supplements.
I haven’t tried Teras whey protein yet but I like that it is grass-fed protein and this is what I also recommend to my readers to chose for themselves.
Definitely, this protein is worth trying, thank you for pointing it out!
BR,
Ionut
Thank you Ionut! I’m glad you enjoyed it. There are not many honest reviews out there on supplements which I am trying to change. I think you will enjoy it if you give it a try. Thanks for your comment and thanks for stopping by!
