I’ve been eating a lot of Quest bars lately.
I wasn’t their biggest fan at first, but they’ve greatly improved their flavors so it’s all aboard the Quest bar train for me.
Quest bars are one of the most popular protein bars currently on the market.
They’re sold in a ton of stores, including grocery stores, so the average person can get their hands on them without venturing into a fancy supplement store.
Quests bars are cool because they come in a lot of unique flavors. They don’t stick with the basic flavors that other companies do.
They are a breath of fresh air in the protein bar industry as most protein bars still come in the same plain flavors they’ve come in for the last decade.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough chocolate peanut butter flavored protein bars to last me a lifetime!
For those of us Quest bar fans, the question of the best tasting flavor always comes up.
There are many to choose from that it’s difficult to pick just one.
I’m always asking my friends what their favorite quest bar flavor is and each one gives me a different answer.
I haven’t tried every single Quest bar flavor, but I’ve tried most of them and I’m ready to give you my favorite ones.
Since it’s so hard for me to pick just one—I’m going to give you my choices for the 5 best tasting quest bar flavors. I am expecting some feisty debate below so don’t disappoint me!
About Quest nutrition
Quest bars are produced by a company called Quest Nutrition.
Like all great protein bars, Quest bars were first made in the personal kitchen of founders Ron and Shannon Penna back in 2010.
After realizing that most protein bars on the market at that time (still do) contained too many carbohydrates and sugar, they sought to create a better bar.
What started off small in someone’s kitchen has since turned into a billion-dollar company.
Quest Nutrition had some genius marketing people behind the scenes because I remember these bars coming out of nowhere.
I went from never hearing of them before to seeing everyone eating them at the gym.
People are still eating them everywhere I go and now I’m one of those people!
Quest bars are low in carbohydrates and low in sugar, but high in fiber and protein.
A rare combination to find in protein bars.
I like these bars because they fit perfectly in a low-carbohydrate lifestyle and don’t raise your blood sugar like most bars do.
Now that you know a little about the company behind the Quest bar, it’s time to get to the best tasting flavors.
*Quick note—some of the flavors contain sucralose however, Quest makes sucralose-free versions of each bar I list so make sure you read the label.*
# 1- Chocolate sprinkled donut
I know I said I wouldn’t pick favorites, but as it stands right now this is my favorite flavor.
When I first tried it, I had no expectations that it would taste like an actual donut, but it does.
If you blindfolded me and had me try one of these, I would say that this bar tastes like a donut without ever seeing what it was supposed to taste like.
This flavor is delicious and there are actually sprinkles on the outside of the bar.
I believe it’s one of the newest flavors to hit the market. Everyone that I have turned on to this flavor has loved them.
You feel like you’re cheating when you eat one of these!
# 2 -- Cookies and cream
This is one of the more common flavors I see people eating, but I just tried it for the first time the other day.
It comes in a very close second place to chocolate sprinkled donut for me.
It’s reminiscent of cookies and cream ice cream and has cookie pieces mixed into the bar.
The few cookies and cream bars that I’ve tried have not been very good so it’s great to find one that actually tastes this good.
# 3 -- Peanut butter brownie smash
These bars are double layered. One layer of chocolate brownie below a layer of peanut butter.
These bars taste great and do not taste like the bland chocolate peanut butter bars you find everywhere.
I think it’s a mind trick with the double layer structure, but these bars seem bigger than the other ones.
I like that these bars are a little thicker. Quest bars can be on the thinner side so it’s a nice plus.
# 4 -- Mocha chocolate chip
This bar is a mix of coffee, cookie crumbles and chocolate flavored chunks.
It’s a nice mix that works well together and tastes great.
This seems to be one of the least popular ones, but I can’t figure out why because it tastes just like it sounds.
If you love coffee and chocolate than you are going to enjoy this flavor.
This makes a great breakfast bar.
# 5- Birthday cake
Birthday cake is one of the greatest flavors of anything on this green earth.
When it’s done right, it leaves your mouth watering.
To be honest–these bars miss the mark a bit on that birthday flavor, but still taste good enough to make the top 5 for me.
While they do taste a bit like birthday cake, it’s not as prominent as other birthday cake flavors I’ve tried.
If you like sweeter things, you will enjoy this flavor.
I like the white coating and sprinkles on the outside of these bars. They did a great job with making them look authentic.
Why I like Quest bars
To be honest, it took me a little while to warm up to Quest bars.
A lot of their flavors are pretty bland and many of them contain sucralose, which I avoid.
Over the last year or so they have started to put out great flavors and have improved their ingredients.
First and foremost, I like that I can buy the bar anywhere. Every single grocery store around me carries them which makes it convenient for me.
I also like that these bars are low in carbohydrates and sugar. I have gone back to a low-carb lifestyle and these bars fit in perfectly.
I like the unique flavors too. I get so sick of the same flavor over and over again. I like that Quest changes things up!
The more Quest bars I eat, the more I like them.
These bars are quickly becoming one of my favorites to eat.
I will be sure to keep this list updated as more flavors come out in the future.
Stay pumped,
Dan
P.S. Let’s hear it. What’s your favorite quest bar flavor? I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions about Quest bars below!
Wow, I had never heard about these bars before! They look absolutely amazing and I think that I’ll try them for sure! I’m vegetarian and I can’t process beans, which means that I often lack some protein, which results in me binging food to compensate for the lack of protein. It’s weird how the body works… I got sick of the vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavor, so these flavors are sounding like music to my ears! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Virendra,
They are awesome bars! There are definitely some that are better than others. The body can definitely work in odd ways. If you are used to those old bland flavors then you will enjoy these a lot I think. Let me know what you think of them if you end up trying them! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your comment!
Hi Dan, Love your website and the post on the Quest Bars…I myself have tried their bars and really enjoy them but I have yet to try the donut flavor!! Definitely on my list of ones to get. Much success to you 🙂
Thank you so much Maryanne! I love yours as well. I highly recommend you try that one! Definitely one of the coolest bars I’ve had. Same to you! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your comment!
It’s cool to read about the success of the Quest company. It shows that everything is possible if you stay true to your idea. I haven’t tasted their bars yet, but I might give it a try. I’ll go with Peanut Butter Brownie Smash. The name is freaking awesome! I bet the bar is smashing too. Thanks for sharing. As always, your work is appreciated, brother!
It definitely does! Amazing what it turned into after starting from someone’s kitchen. They are pretty good overall. What they lack in taste, they make up for in flavor options. Peanut butter brownie smash is definitely one of the better ones! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!
